Tonkatsu curry

Although it’s a little far from the station, this pork cutlet restaurant is frequented by locals one after another.

The restaurant is located in a residential area of Shinjuku Ward, close to Nakano Ward.

This tonkatsu restaurant is run by a husband and wife with gentle smiles, so it has a very comfortable atmosphere.

The curry rice menu includes “katsu curry” and “tonkatsu curry,” but this time I ordered the pork loin cutlet curry.

(By the way, pork cutlet curry is made with pork belly.)

The curry is as rich as it looks, but it’s not a heavily spicy type, but rather a lightly spicy Japanese-style curry.

But it’s just as rich as a European-style curry, and it mixes well with the rice and pork cutlet.

Because it’s Japanese style, it’s not too spicy, but the flavor is strong, so the shredded cabbage and Neapolitan pasta on the side are a welcome addition.

I like how the strong curry is neutralized with the cabbage and tomato ketchup.

The pork cutlet itself is deep-fried and made from lean loin meat, yet still tastes juicy.

This pork cutlet curry is extremely well-balanced.

The portion is just right for men, making it a curry rice you’ll want to eat again and again.
