In the Japanese summer, we recommend the lightly tasting pork cutlet curry!

I visited a Western-style restaurant in town on a scorching hot day with the temperature at 35°.

What I ordered there was… pork cutlet curry!!

Even with a large serving of rice, it’s only 900 yen! (As of July 2025)

Garnish with a generous amount of orange fukujinzuke pickles, and top the cabbage and carrots with mayonnaise.

Oops, I got carried away and forgot to wipe my hands (〃ﾉωﾉ)

Now! Let’s eat!

I start with the miso soup…it’s topped with tofu, fried tofu, and green onions, and has a very homey flavor. For some reason, it’s comforting.

Next, I have the curry!

Hmm?! It has a light appearance. A refreshing taste…not spicy!! ️But (of course) it tastes like curry. I’m surprised by the new flavor. It’s light and might be great for summer!

And finally, I reach for the tonkatsu.

I pour lemon juice over the first slice…it’s deep-fried and has a crispy texture. The refreshing flavor of the curry means the lemon-flavored pork really comes through. But the lemon juice makes it a bit lacking…maybe lol.

Next, we add the sauce!

A classic, as always! The delicious texture of the tonkatsu explodes!! So good! This is katsu curry. The curry rice is tasty.

I had a mini salad in between…crunchy and delicious! I think it was freshly shredded cabbage. A great side dish. Wonderful.

And then the tonkatsu again…with mustard.

As expected, this is also an essential condiment for tonkatsu. The slight spiciness really whets the appetite.

I then ate the curry rice with fukujinzuke.

Is this fukujinzuke homemade?! It’s a little sweet and delicious. It matches the light curry perfectly. Was this also intentional??

I liked the mustard flavor so I had another piece. Delicious.

Next, the sauce and mayonnaise. This has a strong flavor that contrasts well with the curry and is delicious.

The last slice was a trifecta of sauce, mayonnaise, and mustard.

And with that, I was able to finish on a high note!

I was surprised by the light curry flavor, but with the crispy pork cutlet and the variety of ways it can be eaten, it was an overall satisfying pork cutlet curry. Not only did they have a wide selection of unusual seasonings, it was also very cheap, making it good value for money.

As it’s close to the student district, this Western restaurant is perfect for hungry students.
