This super-soft pork cutlet can be cut with chopsticks – it’s so amazing! We’ve discovered a mustard trick that defies common sense!
A tonkatsu restaurant located on Sakae Street near Takadanobaba Station.
The interior of the store is bright and clean, with a white wood counter as the main feature.
Today I ordered the loin cutlet set meal (large).
Because it was a large loin cutlet, I had to wait patiently for about 25 minutes after ordering before it finally arrived!

It looks huge! Bigger than the palm of your hand! It’s piping hot and freshly cooked, raising my expectations.
I start off with miso soup, feeling generous… Mmm! Clam soup! The broth is really tasty. A great start.
And finally… the pork loin cutlet. It’s thick and big enough. Very filling. By the way, I ordered a large portion of rice too.
First, I try it as is, without any condiments.
Wow! Delicious! It’s soft, and the flavor of the meat oozes out as you chew! It’s delicious just as is.
There are no sinews where it meets the fat, so it can be torn off with just a light bite. It’s so easy to cut with chopsticks.
But, since I’ve come all this way, I’ll try adding some sauce next.
The sweet tonkatsu sauce clings to the thin batter, creating a gentle flavor. I can’t help but smile as I eat it.
Next, I tried it with mustard…it was mild, so the flavor of the meat wasn’t overpowered. However, those who like spicy food might find it lacking.
The cabbage was fresh and had just the right texture. It wasn’t too crunchy, which was nice.
I alternated between eating the rice and about three pieces of pork cutlet, then took a break.
The pickled turnips were not too salty, and had a gentle flavor. Even if I served it alone, it would probably be perfect as a snack with alcohol. Personally, I like the flavor. Delicious pickles.
Now, I bite into the tonkatsu again.
This time, I tried the combination of sauce and mustard. I knew the mustard was supposed to be mild, so I added a lot…and I could taste a subtle spiciness in the sauce. With mild mustard, the quantity is key! LOL.
This combination might be the best. The key is to add lots of mustard!
A large pork cutlet with a large serving of rice. Mild pickles. Miso soup with a strong dashi broth.
I finished off this hearty and delicious set meal. I was completely satisfied.
After all, the best thing is that the tonkatsu itself is delicious! I felt like having a bowl of tonkatsu on its own instead of the set meal! (I don’t drink alcohol though lol)
